Louis for Security Check

Rebecca Wu with the FBI's office in Saint Louis told NBC4 reporter Olivia Fecteau agents were responding to the scene to investigate "some kind of threat".

American Flight 534, bound from Columbus, Ohio, to Phoenix made an unscheduled landing in St. Louis at 8:14 a.m. for a security check.

Out of an abundance of caution, STL authorities are conducting a security check of the aircraft.

A plane that flew out of John Glenn Columbus International Airport was diverted to St. Louis, Thursday. The pilot asked to land have a security check performed. Airport is fully operational. The FBI says the pilot chose to divert the plane, but spokeswoman Rebecca Wu declined to say what specifically led to that decision.

Authorities refused to say what the threat was. "American Airlines plans to re-board its passengers and continue Flt 534 to Phoenix shortly". Louis Airport for a security check. The airport and our partners provided food and drinks during the process.
