Brian Williams calls images of US missile launch 'beautiful'

Brian Williams caused a Twitter uproar following comments he made during his show on Thursday about what he called "beautiful pictures" of USA missiles launching during an attack on a Syrian air base.

Internet users tore into Williams over his "surreal" commentary of the strikes, which were carried out following a chemical weapon attack allegedly ordered by the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Reporting the news on MSNBC, Williams described the footage as "beautiful" and quoted Cohen's "First We Take Manhattan".

Williams continued: "They are attractive pictures of fearsome armaments making what is for them a brief flight over to this airfield".

Last night, the US military launched dozens of missiles at Syria, in response to new reports that Syrian president Bashar al-Assad had authorized the use of chemical weapons on his citizens.

Some people deemed the comments as insensitive or perhaps a bit too cavalier.

USA news anchor Brian Williams has been criticised after quoting Leonard Cohen lyrics when reporting on the United States' missile strike in Syria. Williams is facing online criticism for saying on MSNBC Thursday, April 6, 2017, for describing video of USA missiles launching during an attack on a Syrian air base as "beautiful".

Viewers took Williams to task on Twitter for his "beautiful" remarks, some mocking the anchor in the spirit of the old #BrianWilliamsMisremembers meme trade. There's something about terrorism that I've always admired.

Williams got dropped from NBC's Nightly News and now has a spot at MSNBC, not almost as high profile. "But our terrorists, Jesus, Freud, Marx, Einstein".
