Google Assistant may be coming to iOS soon

Ramic and Volvo said there will be more details on the system in a presentation on Wednesday at the Google I/O developer conference.

This partnership opens a world of possibilities for Volvo vehicle owners - who should gain access to a wide pool of Android-based apps developed by Google, Volvo, or third-party developers. A spokesman for Volvo said the new system will have Apple CarPlay capability. Drivers will also be able to use Google Maps for the navigation system instead of the default HERE mapping, and there's a new message centre for incoming calls and messages, too. How much of the underlying software will be under Android's control, we dread to think. Once Google makes the Android platform as secure as iOS, we could then look at a auto with complete Android functionalities. With this update, hundreds of millions of Android users will now be able to try out the Google Assistant.

Volvo has announced a partnership with tech giant Google to push better connectivity with Google's Android brand.

The Google Assistant iOS app is expected to mirror its Android counterpart, using both text inputs (similar to the Google Assistant-powered Allo app) and voice commands. Keep in mind the Google Assistant SDK was only opened up to developers last month. If you're not already aware, I/O 2017 is just two days away so Google may announce the Assistant for iOS on this date. Three years since its launch, Android Auto is now supported by 300 vehicle models and aftermarket stereos. Along with the announcement, Google did post two concepts of what potential owners will see, with those interior concepts based on a Volvo XC60, as well as an Audi Q8 Sport.

Other than the co-operation for the development of the aforementioned services, Volvo is also collaborating with Google on another initiative to update recent Volvo models by adding Google Local Search, a location based service application.
