Ariana Grande Will Perform Benefit Concert in Manchester

May 29, 2017, 04:17

In her statement Friday, Grande said she would not let the terrorist act rob her fans of the safety, solidarity and celebration they had come to expect from her concerts.

He added that police had reviewed security at more than 1300 events across the country, and people could be "100 percent confident" they were doing everything possible to protect them.

Greater Manchester Police had arrested another man overnight on suspicion of terrorism offences as part of its ongoing investigation into the attack on Manchester Arena on Monday that claimed 22 lives.

A senior security source told the BBC the threat level was "critical" partly because of concern at so-called "copy-cat" attacks, as well as fears about the Manchester network.

Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley, Britain's top counterterrorism police officer, said authorities have dismantled a "large part" of the network around bomber Salman Abedi.

Police say they think Abedi assembled his bomb at a rented apartment in central Manchester that was raided by officers Wednesday.

Grande was last seen arriving in her native Boca Raton, Florida where she is now staying with her family.

Abedi also had sufficient funds to buy materials for his sophisticated bomb while living in a rented house in south Manchester.

The man, whose identity remains unknown, is one of nine men who are being held for questioning in England following Monday's attack.

Rudd said Britain was making good progress with internet companies on this but that more could be done.

Police say they are now holding 11 suspects in custody.

More than 1,000 armed police are on standby as major events including the FA Cup Final on Saturday evening and the Premiership Rugby Final are expected to draw tens of thousands of people.

Manchester slowly returned to normal, though the damaged arena and adjacent Victoria train station remained closed.

"Our response to this violence must be to come closer together, to help each other, to love more, to sing louder and to live more kindly and generously than we did before", Grande wrote.

Four days after a suicide bombing left 22 dead and scores wounded at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England, the 23-year-old pop singer has announced that she will return to the grief-stricken city for another concert to benefit the victims and their families. "We won't let hate win".
