SNP would back 'progressive alliance' in event of hung parliament

As Mr Corbyn continues to face scrutiny over his position on terror and security issues, the Daily Telegraph reports that he has been condemned by his own party for attending a wreath-laying ceremony at the grave of a Palestinian terrorist.

He pledged to end the Tories' ruinous austerity programme and "work to eliminate child poverty" so that children from poor areas such as Easterhouse and Possilpark have the same life chances as those from more affluent areas. There will be no alliance. "We're fighting this election to win".

Labour still trails the Conservatives in the polls, despite the gap between the two parties tightening significantly in the last two weeks.

She branded Labour plans to raise taxes on the richest as "reckless" but warned that a vote for the Tories was "a vote for more cuts".

The Scottish First Minister and SNP leader said that she did not think Labour's leader Jeremy Corbyn was "credible as an alternative prime minister".

What I actually said - "I don't want to see Tory govt or Tory PM".

The SNP won 56 of the 59 seats in Scotland in the 2015 general election, and in the run up to that ballot Tories across the United Kingdom sought to raise fears about the impact a possible coalition between Labour and the SNP could have.

Speaking on the BBC's Sunday Politics Scotland, Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale said people were "distressed, upset and worried" about the prospect of a second independence referendum and that it was her party's job to block it.

The Conservative manifesto for the General Election makes clear that there should not be another referendum without "public consent" and until the Brexit process has "played out".

Mr Corybn was asked during an interview with Bauer and Global radio stations: "Theresa May says now is not the time for another independence referendum".

"I'm pretty sure we all know what the cost of that deal would be, she'd want a second independence referendum and Jeremy Corbyn has already said on a recent visit to Scotland that he'd be absolutely fine with that".

The Labour leader replied: "I'll obviously open discussions with the Government in Scotland and listen very carefully to what the Scottish Parliament says".
