Oregon State is the top seed in the NCAA baseball tournament

Tech baseball announced the Lubbock Regional bracket earlier today, and starting Friday, June 2, the Red Raiders will host DE in Game 1.

The last time the Knights won 40 games was also the team's most recent NCAA Regional appearance, back in 2012 when the Black and Gold came up just short of an NCAA Regional title, falling to Stony Brook in the regional final in Miami.

With the Hurricanes being left on the outside looking in of the NCAA Baseball Regionals, Florida State takes over as owning the NCAA's longest active streak of consecutive tournament appearances with 41.

The Blue Devils and Horned Frogs (42-16) will play on Friday night at 9:00 p.m.

The Florida State, who had a slow start to the season but won their last six games and the ACC Tournament this weekend, will host Tennessee Tech on Friday in the Tallahassee regional, joined by UCF and Auburn.

If LSU and Mississippi State advance from their respective regionals, the two rivals would meet in Baton Rouge for a three-game series for the right to go to the College World Series. Florida Gulf Coast and MI are the other two teams in the four-team, double-elimination regional in Chapel Hill. Texas Tech is the host and No. 1 seed in the pod while the No. 4 seed went to Delaware.

Selection committee chairman Scott Sidwell, the athletic director at San Francisco, said Miami, Connecticut (33-25), Old Dominion (37-21) and SC (35-25) were the first four teams held out of the tournament. The Cardinals will face No. 4 Radford in the opening game, and then, either No. 3 Xavier or No. 2 Oklahoma on Saturday. "And they've played in our park plenty of times, so that's not going to faze them in any way".

For the first time in 21 years, the WVU baseball team will be playing games in June. Since 2008, it leads the conference in wins (343) and conference wins (147).

Other teams in the regional include the hosts, Wake Forest, and America East champion UMBC. Those winners move on to the College World Series in Omaha.

North Carolina (47-12), which also failed to make the tournament in 2016, is No. 2 after winning 18 of its last 22 games.

Virginia (42-14) is headed to the TCU regional as the No. 2 seed in that foursome. No. 3 St. John's and No. 2 Vanderbilt round out the Clemson region.
