Air Force Thunderbird Jet Has 'Mishap' on Landing in Ohio

Penelope Reed of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in Dayton says a report was received at 12:31 p.m. Friday of a jet off the end of a runway and on its top.

A Thunderbird F-16 was involved in an incident Friday while practicing for an OH air show, according to multiple reports. A crash crew from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, along with heavy rescue equipment, was dispatched.

Emergency responders had to extricate the aircraft's occupants.

No injuries were immediately reported, The Associated Press reported.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds confirmed an incident with a F-16D Fighting Falcon occurred around 12:20 p.m. Friday.

Visibility was said to be low and windy conditions were in the area at the time of the crash, according to the Dayton Business Journal, but no cause for the crash is yet known.

The Air Force Thunderbirds were practicing for an upcoming air show when there was a "mishap" during the landing.

In 2013, a stunt performer and pilot were killed during the air show when their aircraft crashed during a public demonstration.
