Hundreds of households to be evacuated in wake of London tower fire

The spokeswoman added: "We will also be following any additional safety guidance from the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and the London Fire Brigade (LFB)".

Camden Council leader Georgia Gould said the buildings would be "temporarily decanted" to allow "urgent fire safety works" to take place.

"We now have expert evidence that the fire was not started deliberately", McCormack told reporters in London.

Thermal cladding is to be removed from 10 London tower blocks as a precaution following the Grenfell Tower fire.

The renovations on the Chalcots estate is anticipated to take between three and four weeks, Gould said.

Those living in the Taplow block on the Chalcots estate are to be rehoused in temporary accommodation following a joint inspection of the block by the London Fire Brigade and Camden Council.

"We have liaised with residents at Durham House and will work to ensure they continue to feel safe and comfortable in their homes".

Tests carried out yesterday on the panels of the high-rise estate showed the cladding fitted to five tower blocks was identical to those used at the gutted North Kensington estate.

Investigators have now said that cladding and insulation that was attached to the outside of the building had failed subsequent safety tests and cops were now looking at possible manslaughter charges.

"We will identify and investigate any criminal offense and, of course, given the deaths of so many people we are considering manslaughter, as well as criminal offenses and breaches of legislation and regulations", McCormack added. McCormack said the Hotpoint model FF175BP refrigerator-freezer had not been subject to any product recalls before the fire.

The way the fire spread and the rapid speed of its spread through the building, leading to whole families being incinerated by the flames, is forming part of what was described as "one of the biggest and most complex investigations" by the Met police. Fiona McCormack says authorities are "looking at every health and safety and fire safety offense and we are reviewing every company at the moment involved in the building and refurbishment of Grenfell Tower". Samples from 14 buildings in London, Manchester and Plymouth have already been found to be combustible.

McCormack also repeated calls for anyone with information on who might have been in the tower to come forward. "I remain really concerned though that we do not have a complete picture", she said.
