Nitish Kumar Will Attend Lalu Yadav's Anti-BJP Rally If Invited

On Sunday, Nitish blamed the Congress for the "current mess" the Opposition finds itself in.

"Refuting the reports on a rift in the alliance, Nitish said that Party issues are discussed in the meeting I had said it in a context and there should be no interpretation outside.", he said. "The Opposition parties are trying to create misunderstanding between these two parties which will not be fulfilled", JD (U) leader Ali Anwar told ANI.

Earlier on June 19, Chief Minister Nitish said that a thorough discussion will be held on the matter within the Janata Dal (United) party. "Congress is the largest party, it needs to step up and provide an agenda".

"We had tried to bring secular parties on one platform during the Assam elections and then again during the UP Assembly polls but we failed because the Congress didn't show any interest", the Bihar chief minister said.

Nitish Kumar also criticised without naming anyone that the issue of farmers was pushed to the back burners due to Presidential elections.

Bihar Chief Minister and JD (U) president Nitish Kumar on Monday said that there was no invitation to him for GST launch event and hence there was no question of attending or skipping.

"RJD has supported the GST earlier but later we found that the BJP-led government at the Centre has changed it".

Kumar's comments come at a time when questions have been raised on the continuity of the alliance after JD (U) made a decision to back NDA's presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind while the other members including the Congress and RJD backed the opposition's Meira Kumar, a former Lok Sabha speaker.

Justifying his party's stand on supporting Kovind as a presidential poll nominee and attending the special session of Parliament on GST, he said, "It's our principled stand taken after thoroughly deliberating on all aspects".

"Even when I was part of the NDA, I took strong initiatives for the welfare of minorities...", he added. Kumar, a former Lok Sabha speaker and the daughter of iconic Dalit leader Jagjivan Ram, was speaking to reporters after meeting the Congress MPs and MLAs at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee office here. Do you want me to get defeated? "There is no threat to Mahagathbandhan", said Chief Minister Nitish Kumar putting an end to the speculation of a split.
