Rod Wheeler, Part of Recent Seth Rich Controversy, Seeks Fox News Trial

In May, Fox News published a story that perpetuated the conspiracy that Rich was killed for leaking DNC emails to WikiLeaks, a notion that grew because Julian Assange seemed to suggest the late aide's involvement.

'The motivation behind the article: establish that Seth Rick provided WikiLeaks with the DNC emails to shift the blame from Russian Federation and help put to bed speculation that President Trump colluded with Russian Federation in an attempt to influence the outcome of the presidential election'.

Wheeler's lawsuit claims he and Butowsky met with then-White House press secretary Sean Spicer in April, supposedly to keep him updated on the investigation. Jay Wallace, Fox's president of news, told NPR there was no "concrete evidence" that Wheeler was misquoted. The suit also alleges Butowsky left a message on Wheeler's phone, insisting "we have the full, uh, attention of the White House, on this".

By now most of our readers have heard about the unfortunate Seth Rich hoax which was pushed hard by the far-right and many reporters at Fox News, before the network announced that they were pulling the story.

In addition, Wheeler also filed a lawsuit against Fox for discrimination due to his African-American race.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Tuesday that Trump had "no knowledge" of the Fox story, and called it "completely untrue" that the White House helped develop it. Spicer admitted to a brief meeting but also denied any White House role, The Washington Post reported. Wheeler's lawsuit, however, states that Bukowski, the third party, sent Wheeler five text messages and one voice mail in the three day period ending on the Hannity interview. "Zimmerman, Butowsky and Fox had created fake news to advance President Trump's agenda".

Rod Wheeler has been working at Fox News since 2002.

Washington's Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the July 2016 fatal shooting of 27-year-old Rich, saying there is evidence to suggest the murder took place during a botched robbery. "But you can feel free to say that the White House is onto this now". Butowsky said they ultimately talked more about shirts than Seth Rich.

However, Wheeler's lawsuit alleges that the Fox reporter behind the story, Malia Zimmerman, fabricated these quotes in her story. Wheeler doesn't find much, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation says they're not investigating the case as they're leaving it to Metro D.C. police, which seemingly blows up the idea that there's some Federal Bureau of Investigation report that connects Rich to the leaks. Days later, Fox News retracted it.

Butowsky did not immediately comment to CNBC for this article. The email from Butowsky told Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt and Brian Kilmeade to contact him directly if they have any questions about Zimmerman's story hours before it was published.

Wheeler said he provided some quotes to Fox based on what Butowsky and Zimmerman had told him. Wigdor said this would include the president and Spicer. "There's nothing truthful here at all", Butowsky said. "We were basically telling him you are doing a great job and that the president or the White House or somebody would be interested in meeting you".
