Trump Hits New Low In National Q Poll

Forty-six percent of voters said more acceptance of transgender people would be "a good thing for the country", 14 percent said it would be "a bad thing", and 39 percent said it would make little difference difference. In the history of modern polling, no president has ever seen approval ratings so bad at this point in their tenure.

They said Trump tried to derail or obstruct the probe by 58 percent to 37 percent, that Russian Federation did intervene in the election by 63 percent to 31 percent, and that the president acted illegally or unethically toward Russian Federation, 60 percent to 32 percent.

Eric Trump, who's ostensibly steering clear of politics and helping run his father's business, appeared on Fox News this week and boasted about Donald Trump's broad popularity.

Trump's negatives in the poll were twice as high as his positives, with 61 percent disapproving of Trump's job performance, and just 33 percent approving.

However, the poll did find that 58 percent of people found Trump to be "strong".

The poll was conducted last week online among 1,972 registered voters before the firing of then-communications director Anthony Scaramucci. In late June, 84% of Republicans approved of Trump's performance - now, 76% of Republicans say the same.

The recent death of the GOP's party-line effort to overhaul former President Barack Obama's signature 2010 health care law, the Affordable Care Act, also raised the specter of electoral pain for Republicans on Capitol Hill. Those surveyed who strongly disapproved of his job performance outweighed those who strongly approved by a whopping 2:1 margin, Silver calculated. Sixty-one percent of American voters disapprove of Trump, according to the poll.

Republican voters remained the only demographic group opposed to allowing transgender people in the military. Its margin of error is 3.4 percentage points.

The independent Quinnipiac poll regularly surveys about political races, state and national elections, and issues of public concern, such as schools, taxes, transportation, municipal services and the environment.

Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr., chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said there would be "no modifications" to policies regarding transgender service members until the military received more direction than what Trump sent in a tweet.
