Newcastle and Chelsea in talks over Kenedy loan deal

Christian Atsu made his loan from Chelsea into a permanent move, Florian Lejeune and Javier Manquillo joined from Eibar and Atletico Madrid respectively, while £12million was spent on Norwich City winger Jacob Murphy and Mikel Merino arrived on a season-long loan from Borussia Dortmund.

Representing the interested parties from the Premier League are Arsenal, Liverpool and the returning Newcastle, managed by the former Real boss Rafa Benitez.

"I am not happy [with transfer dealings] but for me it is a challenge", he continued.

Since joining in last season's transfer window, Perez managed to score just one goal in his 11 Premier League appearances which saw him fall in Wenger's pecking order behind Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck. It's very hard - the prices are insane. Hopefully we can find solutions and bring what we need.

"I am not happy but at the same time for me it's a challenge".

"Sometimes it is not about you want, it is about what you need and what you can afford now".

The Championship winners have signed five players before the Premier League season starts, but Benitez said more needed to be done for them to compete in the top flight.

Earlier this week, the 57-year-old confirmed his interest in signing Lucas Perez from Arsenal as the Spaniard looks set to leave north London after the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette. "I never mention figures but we have done all that Deportivo can, even making a big effort because of the importance that I believe Lucas can have in this team next season".

"For me, I'm not totally happy with what we did, but I will try to do my best, working very hard with people at the club to try and improve what we have at the moment. I'm very realistic. Let's be sure we do very well every game and we're out of the bottom three positions and then see where we go". I have to continue sending my players the right message and giving them confidence about what we are trying to do.
