Powerball Tops $535 Million Entering Weekend

A store clerk sells a Powerball lottery ticket at his 7-Eleven store in Chicago, Illinois. The state's largest Powerball group win was a $107.5 million cash jackpot shared by 48 transit workers from the Philadelphia area in April 2012.

Powerball fever is in full-swing with the 5th largest jackpot in the history of the game going down Saturday night. According to Birrell, the global disrupter now serves more than 6 million players worldwide, and has paid out winnings of more than $1.25 billion to date.

The Powerball jackpot is now $535 million, an increase of $25 million from early Friday. Stay with 8News online and on air for the latest updates.

The drawings are held at 10:59 p.m.

The next drawing will be Saturday night, and will be broadcast during Eyewitness News at 11 on WPRI 12. Five numbered balls are drawn from 1 to 69 and one numbered ball is drawn from 1 to 26.

On Wednesday, nobody matched the six numbers required to win the Powerball jackpot.

Wednesday night, IL players won more than 88,500 prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000, even though there was no jackpot victor.

Players are able to bet on the outcomes of the biggest lotteries from around the world, with mega jackpots available seven days a week. For an additional dollar, players can add the Power Play® option to multiply non-jackpot winnings by 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 times except for the Match-5 prize, which is set at $2 million.
