Three brawls mar Tigers-Yankees game

After Tigers pitcher Michael Fulmer allowed a home run to Sanchez in the fourth inning, he hit the batter with a pitch in his next at-bat.

Kahnle and NY manager Joe Girardi were ejected. Cameras caught him running onto the field and punching Tigers star Miguel Cabrera at least twice in the head after Cabrera got into a wrestling match with Yankees catcher Austin Romine.

The game was finally about to resume when Cabrera stepped toward Romine, and the NY catcher, whose brother Andrew plays for the Tigers, took off his mask.

Cabrera, who was one of eight players or managers ejected, told reporters after the game he wasn't upset with Sanchez for hitting him while he was down, but did say he should have done it "face to face". Yankees reliever Dellin Betances was ejected an inning later for hitting James McCann with a pitch.

Tigers reliever Alex Wilson was immediately ejected after hitting Clint Frazier in the thigh with a pitch in the top of the eighth.

This was not the case with the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees on Thursday. Detroit manager Brad Ausmus was also ejected. The Yankees have been doing their part with wins in seven of nine after a 10-2 victory at Detroit on Wednesday.

Via his Twitter account, retired pitching great and 2015 Hall of Fame inductee Pedro Martinez offered up his own criticism of Sanchez and the role he had in the bench-clearing brawl, calling the punch thrown a "cheap shot".

Jaime Garcia takes the ball for the Yankees in the series finale against the Tigers on Thursday. "I said, 'This isn't about you.' And then he pushed me". He ended up tossing the Tigers All-Star to the ground, as both benches and bullpens cleared. Cabrera approached the plate and exchanged words with Romine.

Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers is held back during a sixth inning.

Tigers ace Justin Verlander?was also seen arguing with teammate Victor Martinez in the dugout during one of the skirmishes.

Ray (10-5), who sustained a concussion when he was hit in the head by a 108 miles per hour line drive in his previous start July 28, allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out nine.
