Oh Good, the Republican Ghouls' Terrible New Healthcare Plan is Gathering Steam

Repeals Obamacare Individual and Employer Mandates. Republicans control 52 of the Senate's 100 seats. The authors of the bill say they intend to reduce expected federal payments to high-cost states like MA and increase federal payments to states that have not expanded Medicaid. House Speaker Paul Ryan last week tweeted his appreciation to Graham and Cassidy and some members of the Freedom Caucus conservative group have praised the bill.

But, one of the worst aspects of this particular bill is the fact that it will allow insurance companies to raise your rates if you get sick.

Refusing to accept defeat, Graham and Cassidy have come up with yet another bill.

Their 140-page bill would replace much of that statute with block grants to states and give them wide leeway on spending the money. But Trump has been banging the drum on Twitter for weeks, and health care experts and Congressional watchers have begun to talk about the increasing likelihood of Graham's bill passing.

Sen. John McCain of Arizona told an MSNBC correspondent he might "reluctantly" vote for the measure offered by Sens.

On Sunday, McCain repeated his view that a health plan needs to go through the committee process and gain bipartisan support - both of which are unlikely with the clock ticking and Democrats united against an Obamacare replacement. In a news release, McAluliffe says the bill "would have the exact same disastrous consequences for Virginia's families as the previous versions that they tried to ram through earlier this year".

"We're crunching those numbers", he said. But the new bill holds the same provisions that they opposed this summer: deep cuts to Medicaid and a temporary elimination of federal funding to Planned Parenthood. Republican (and sometimes Democratic) governors have always been cheerleaders for this concept, though they are generally not as willing as members of Congress or conservative activists to contemplate a compete federal abandonment of Medicaid to the states at some point down the road.

"Of course block grants are much better than the other way of doing things, having the money be allocated by Washington", McMaster said. And states could "devise their own coverage programs".

According to McAuliffe, the Cassidy-Graham measure would mean higher insurance premiums, remove protection for people with pre-existing conditions and remove the requirement that insurance policies cover basic, essential medical services. Republican legislation, specifically this Republican legislation will result in the deaths of American citizens because Republicans are so damn greedy that all they care about are making sure we repeal those subsidies, give tax cuts to the wealthy and let their donors from the healthcare industry continue to reap massive profits while screwing over American consumers. They insist the block grants approach in the measure brings flexibility to states that Obamacare lacks.

President Donald Trump issued a statement last week calling Obamacare a "nightmare for the many Americans who have been devastated by its skyrocketing healthcare premiums and deductibles and canceled or shrinking plans".

The bill Paul said he doesn't support is sponsored by Republican Senators Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy.

"We've been stumbling around trying to repeal and replace Obamacare".
