The White House announced Thursday that President Donald Trump will temporarily lift the Jones Act in order to bolster aid efforts in Puerto Rico, which was devastated by Hurricane Maria last week.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency told ABC News that any aid it has delivered to Puerto Rico has been immediately distributed.

Meanwhile water and food rations are improving, and telecommunications have been restored to about 30 per cent of the island. "We do have severe logistical limitations".
