Mobile eliminates free unlimited LTE perk for Canada and Mexico travelers

The carrier did state that "less than 1% of people" on the plan used over 5GB a month when traveling. So in this situation, if you have visited Canada or Mexico you were provided as much LTE data as you ever wanted without any fear of paying back to a huge phone bill.

The offered 5 GB data allotment is replenished with each billing cycle for Canada and Mexico. All the same, this limits T-Mobile's interest to jet-setters. T-Mobile has recently announced that, from 12th November, it will top the no-additional-charge LTE data to a maximum of 5GB every month while you're going to the US' neighbors. That's thanks to the company's Mobile Without Borders perk, which was implemented in 2015.

The users can access to less data if they aren't subscribed to an unlimited plan, for example, a customer with 6 GB cap will only have 4 GB to utilize in overseas in case the 2 GB has already consumed. To stop the users from using "beyond the intent of the product" a capping has been applied to the usage of the monthly 4G LTE data. You'll still get data after the 5GB limit is hit, but it'll be throttled to the near-unusable "Simple Global" speed tier, or about 128Kbps.

The change affects all customers on T-Mobile One, Simple Choice, and legacy rate plans. T-Mobile is known to give the North American customers complete access to LTE beyond their nation's borders.

T-Mobile not only has one of the best prices of all carriers, it has some great benefits to plans as well. Either way, T-Mobile says that less than 1 percent of users who travel to either country use over 5GB in a month.

Mobile Without Borders is an incredible benefit and allows customers to stay connected when traveling in Canada and Mexico.
