Kid Rock turns down Senate run on 'Howard Stern'

Kid Rock is dropping his political ambitions - which were a publicity stunt he admitted to Howard Stern on Tuesday - to return to being a rock star.

Kid Rock first teased a run in a July 12 post showing a "Kid Rock for US Senate" yard sign.

Rock's new album, "Sweet Southern Sugar", will be released November 3, Stern said. "Like, who f--ing couldn't figure that out?" But he said the Senate stunt was all part of his promotion for his new album, "Sweet Southern Sugar", which is due out November 3.

Who also said: "Kid Rock pulled out of the Senate race when told he'd have to wash his hair for group pictures".

Rock - born Robert James Ritchie - had made news earlier this year when he publicly mulled a U.S. Senate run in his native MI. I'm going on tour too.

Rock said the summer and fall con was "the most creative thing I've ever done". "Are you f**king s**tting me?"

"Kid Rock getting otherwise credible GOPs to support his fake candidacy is one of my favorite pranks/exposure of how far the GOP has fallen", said Tom Bonier.

Kid Rock told Stern that as public hype grew about him running for office, even people close to him who were "in on the joke" began to take it seriously. I have people that work for me, they're on the in, I'm like, f- no we're not doing it, but let's roll with it for a little while, this is awesome.
