Trump Pushes Moore, Celebrates Himself at Florida Rally

"Get out and vote for Roy Moore - do it, do it, do it", Trump urged the crowd in the middle of his near-80 minutes of mostly-prepared remarks. Senate Republicans want nothing to do with Moore after The Washington Post published allegations that Moore inappropriately touched a 14-year-old when he was 32, and five other teenagers who say he made advances on them.

During his campaign, Trump had promised that, when he was elected, people would be saying "Merry Christmas again", a reference to what he characterized as the country's obsession with political correctness.

Trump didn't miss his opportunity to mention the yearbook note on Friday night, and seemed to relish the chance to try to discredit both Nelson and Allred, who also represents three of the 16 women who have accused Trump of sexual misconduct.

The senior US Senator from Alabama said he wrote in another Republican, but refused to disclose the Republican's name.

Earlier in the day, Ms Nelson acknowledged that she added a notation under a high school yearbook inscription she says Mr Moore wrote in 1977. Luther Strange in the Alabama Republican primary, previously suggested that Moore should consider dropping out, joining a number of Senate Republicans who have opposed Moore's candidacy since reports revealed the former judge's history of alleged repeated sexual misconduct.

"We can not afford, the future of this country can not afford to lose the seat", Mr Trump said, referring to his party's razor-thin 52-48 advantage in that chamber of Congress.

He reiterated on Sunday that he'd rather see a Republican win in Tuesday's race, but that he couldn't vote for Moore.

Trump endorsed Moore's candidacy despite the claims against him, and has said a Democratic victory would serve a blow to his agenda.

Numerous Republicans have called on Moore to step aside in the race.

The White House said the rally was a campaign event for Mr Trump.

White House spokesman Raj Shah said Saturday that Trump has recorded the phone message on Moore's behalf.

While Trump did not travel to Alabama to campaign for Moore ahead of Tuesday's election, Pensacola is near the Alabama border and feeds television markets in the state.
