Miguel Sano Of Minnesota Twins Accused Of Assaulting Female Photographer

Major League Baseball said it is investigating allegations by a woman who worked as a photographer at Minnesota Twins events that she was sexually assaulted by third baseman Miguel Sano in 2015.

"I pulled back as he held onto my wrist", Bissen said. "It hurt, how badly he was grasping at my wrist, but he wouldn't let go", she writes. He finally gave up after a solid ten mins of fighting to pull me thru that door. When Bissen pointed at the door, she wrote, "the athlete took that as a signal that I wanted him to grab me and try to take me back through that door". "I honestly don't want anything from this other than to feel free from what happened to me", Bissen responded. This is my story. "When I said no, it should have been the end of it".

She says, "I don't even want to think about what he may have done, had he got me through that door".

Bissen said she told people, including her family, at the time, but wasn't quite ready to share with the whole world until Thursday.

The incident, Bissen confirmed, occurred after an autograph-signing appearance by Sano at Fan HQ, a sports memorabilia and apparel shop at Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka, on the next-to-last day of the 2015 regular season.

After sending the tweet, the photographer said she had been inundated with messages from social media trolls who doubted her story while noting that she had nothing to gain from telling it.

'Every time I have to hear about how great people think Miguel Sano is, I'm reminded of how very bad he actually is and how he hurt me, ' wrote Betsy Bissen, whose Twitter bio lists her as a photographer for the blog TwinsDaily.com in addition to a role with the minor league St. Paul Saints.

"I unequivocally deny the allegation made against me today - it never happened", Sano said in the statement.

Bissen is also a photographer for the St. Paul Saints and the Minnesota Zoo, according to her Twitter bio. Former Twins player Trevor Plouffe reached out to Bissen via Twitter after hearing the news.

"We are aware of the allegations and are now in the process of looking into it, " Major League Baseball spokesman Mike Teevan said in a statement.

The Minnesota Twins and Sano have been contacted for comment on the allegations. "Every time I have to hear about how great people thing Miguel Sano is, I'm reminded of how bad he actually is and how he hurt me". As the face of the Twins' surprising performance last season, he's key to the team's success moving forward.

"I'm so sorry about this. It's been hard enough for me to come forward knowing there would be backlash, but it was time".
