Justice Department Reopens Hillary Clinton Email Investigation After Trump Tweets

President Donald Trump raised the prospect of the Justice Department taking action against former Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin and former FBI Director James Comey in a Tuesday morning tweet.

Trump has also accused Clinton's top aide Huma Abedin of "disregarding basic security protocols" and recommended "jail!" "In terms of any investigation, that would be something the Department of Justice would need to decide, and I would refer you to them on whether or not they move forward", White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Tuesday, calling the facts surrounding Abedin "disturbing". Strzok and Page used words like "idiot" and "loathsome human" to describe Trump during the campaign.

The end of Trump's tweet on Tuesday also took a new swipe at Comey, who he fired previous year, and who testified before a congressional committee that the President had tried to carve out a relationship of patronage with him.

In a tweet, Trump also urged the Justice Department to act in prosecuting Abedin and former FBI director James Comey, who the president fired in May amid the mounting investigation into Russia's meddling in the 2016 presidential election and contacts between Moscow and Trump's campaign.

Comey in July 2016 said Clinton's use of a private email server was "careless" but said Clinton and her staff engaged in no "intentional misconduct", and announced that the Federal Bureau of Investigation would not recommend criminal charges against her. In a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee last May, the FBI said, "Although we do not know the exact numbers, based on its investigation, the FBI believes it is reasonable to conclude that most of the emails found on Mr. Weiner's laptop computer related to the Clinton investigation occurred as a result of a backup of personal electronic devices, with a small number a result of manual forwarding by Ms. Abedin to Mr. Weiner".

The emails, also obtained by Judicial Watch, appear to show Abedin serving as a gatekeeper auctioning access to the presidential candidate in exchange for donations to the Clinton Foundation. Trump fired the bungling Comey past year for his corruption and incompetence. Trump has said there is no evidence that he colluded with Russian agents during the campaign.

The former NY senator blamed then-FBI Director James Comey reopening the case right before the election on her shocking loss.

Meanwhile, Abedin's cousin, Omar Amanat, another fan of Yahoo email, has been jailed as a flight risk after being convicted of fraud last week. It is not known as to whether the documents were marked classified during the time of the preparations for their release or if they were classified when they were sent.

Amanat was accused of bilking investors by lying to them about the precarious financial condition of a tech concern called Kit Digital. Mothers of Abedin and Amanat are sisters. "The evidence of their criminal schemes was so overwhelming that Amanat actually tried to fool the jury by introducing fake emails into the record as exculpatory "evidence" in this trial", said acting Manhattan U.S. Attorney Joon H. Kim.
