NY [U.S.A.]: A fire broke out on the roof of the Trump Tower in NY on Monday.

Firefighters could be seen on the roof of the building as large clouds of smoke covered the midtown skyline.

Trump was in Washington, where he has lived since he was elected president.

A New York Fire Department spokesperson explained: "We had one minor injury to a firefighter - some debris fell on him". The department says it was called around 7 a.m. Monday for a report of a fire on the top floor.

By 8 a.m., the smoke had cleared and firefighters appeared to have left the scene, footage showed. They remained on the roof of the tower even one hour after dousing the fire.

The building houses luxury apartments and businesses. The New York Fire Department was here within minutes and did an incredible job.

Two civilians and a firefighter were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, the NY fire department said.
