Violations Revealed at Mar-a-Lago Resort After State Inspection in November

There were also food-safety violations discovered.

The Nov. 8 report showed maintenance failures that required immediate repairs to pass a follow-up inspection. The two main kitchens were written up for improper food storage, including milk that was stored at the wrong temperature and hot dogs stored on the ground floor of the freezer, according to the records.

Trump has owned Mar-a-Lago, a 1920s-built property with two restaurants and a B&B since 1985; he has branded it the "Winter White House".

The club was re-checked November 17, a week before Trump's return for his Thanksgiving vacation, and this time "met inspection standards", according to the state inspection report.

Ten other noted violations were deemed less serious under Florida s stringent food safety regulations, yet still damaging to the reputation of the upmarket club that charges a Dollars 200,000 initiation fee, and USD 14,000 a year for membership.Trump had hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping and Japanese Premier Shinzo Abe at the Mar-a-Lago resort last year. A week before a visit from Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, inspectors cited sushi that was ready for consumption that had "not undergone proper parasite destruction" and food stored in broken coolers that at temperatures high enough to cause spoilage. The inspectors returned a week later to make sure things were fixed.

"Mar-a-Lago is no different than the Trump presidency", he added. The health inspectors also said kitchen staff was neglectful in checking the freshness of the ingredients leading to potentially hazardous food.

But as Trump jumped into presidential politics, so did the number of health violations.

In 2015, there were only two violations in the kitchens.

Finished in 1927 after three years of construction, Mar-a-Lago was a classic example of homes along the Eastern Seaboard constructed for "robber barons" at a time when many Americans went hungry.
