Spain, Portugal seize cocaine smuggled inside pineapples

On Wednesday, police in Portugal and Spain announced that they seized 745 kilograms of cocaine that were disguised as fresh pineapples.

The arrest came after an operation between the two countries.

Officials said the smugglers concealed the drugs in wax containers inside hollowed out pineapples. Along with the pineapple discovery, authorities also dismantled a lab where the cocaine was being cut with additives. Just last month we saw avocados used as cover for a massive marijuana shipment, and now reports out of Europe suggest that another popular fruit was used to creatively carry hundreds of kilos of cocaine.

'This organised global group had repeatedly brought large quantities of cocaine to the European continent, ' Portuguese investigators said in a statement.
