Trump 'Apologises' to Piers Morgan for Britain First Retweets

Mr Trump said he knew nothing about the group, called Britain First, but that he was the "least racist person that anybody's going to meet" and his retweet was not an endorsement. "I'm for women, I'm for men, I'm for everyone.'" He ended his message by noting that his full interview with Trump will air on Sunday, January 28, on ITV at 10 p.m.

Morgan, who previously won Trump's "Celebrity Apprentice" and is friendly with the president, .

According to Morgan's tweet this is exactly what Trump said in his interview after he was asked if he were a feminist.

In the interview, Mr Trump said that he had not meant to cause offence and claimed that he was the "least racist person that anybody's going to meet".

But, in what Morgan termed 'classic Trump deflection style, ' President 45 continued: 'I also think they want to feel safe at the border. And I think you know that very well because you know me because you've spent a long period of time with me.

But he didn't actually apologize or actually disavow Britain First because, he maintained, he simply doesn't know enough about the group to make his own judgment.

"And they're doing tremendously in business, they're doing tremendously in so many ways".

Morgan then asked, "Can I get an apology out of you, just for the retweets?".

Trump had retweeted three anti-Muslim videos posted by Jayda Fransen, the deputy leader of Britain First, in November.

Comedian Chelsea Handler mocked Trump's comment on Twitter, writing, "President Trump has declared he is NOT a feminist".

He added that the United States would come to the defense of Britain if needed.

I don't say anything. "So, I don't want to cause any difficulty for your country".

But ahead of Sunday's broadcast Morgan told his 6.3 million Twitter followers: "I don't defend all he stands for, and I challenge him strongly on guns [in the interview]".

"I know nothing about them and I know nothing about them today other than I read a little bit", he said.

He told the 52-year-old: "I also give it to people".

Mr Trump claimed Mrs May invited him to the United Kingdom twice this year during their meeting at the Swiss ski resort.

Those criticisms have only expanded as the number of women seeking elected office has grown, the percentage of women supporting Trump has dropped and the #MeToo movement has continued to grab headlines. "I have a tremendous respect for the prime minister and the job she's doing".
