Nicole Eggert Files LAPD Report Against Scott Baio

Nicole Eggert took Scott Baio's advice and filed a police report against the "Charles in Charge" actor Tuesday.

Bloom said representatives from the sexual assault unit of the Los Angeles Police Department had questioned Eggert today and taken a statement from her.

Despite Baio repeatedly denying the allegations, Eggert hired attorney Lisa Bloom to investigate the abuse, which she originally claimed on Twitter began when she was just 14 years old. Eggert went public with accusations that Baio molested her beginning at age 14 and had sex with her before she reached the California age of consent, which is and was 18.

We've also learned actor Alexander Polinsky, who played Adam Powell on the show, accompanied Eggert and told detectives he witnessed some of the alleged abuse. I witnessed Scott Baio acting inappropriately towards Nicole Eggert during my first year of working on the show.

Eggert's longtime manager David Weintraub also says that his client is "feeling positive" after her conversation with detectives, and that "people are standing by her". Sara Gilbert broke down in tears when she read how Baio allegedly assaulted her friend while he worked on the show. She also said she had always been reluctant to speak up about what she claims really happened between her and Baio because she was ashamed and embarrassed. At one point, Baio challenged Eggert to file a police report and now she has done just that.

"If anyone else has information about this matter please contact us". Baio was in his mid-20s at the time while the actress was in her teens. The new law, signed in September 2016, states there is no statute of limitations for sex crimes against a minor committed after January 1, 2017.

"It started with shaming - fat shaming me all the time", she told ET. "Creep", Eggert wrote in a social media post last month.

Eggert said that seeing other women come forward with their stories of sexual abuse in this #MeToo era gave her the courage to speak up.

Eggert claimed her alleged sexual encounters with Baio when she was still a minor "happened quite often, through the age of 16".

"I don't know if you've ever been on a sitcom set, but on any given day - on every day - and especially Charles in Charge, which was like a picnic every day. there's teachers, parents, family, crew, producers, my dad", Baio told GMA's Amy Robach.

"Nicole didn't know what the statute of limitations was, but apparently the police are doing active investigations into a lot of these high-profile, older cases", Weintraub said.

"How any of this could have happened is absolutely impossible", he added.

Baio responded with an appearance on Good Morning America and repeated his denial of Eggert's claims.

"In those days I had moments of being so hurt and so upset, and even thoughts of ending my life", she says.
