Taliban kills 4 paramilitary soldiers in Balochistan

The Taliban militants on Wednesday killed four paramilitary soldiers in an ambush in Pakistan's restive southwestern Balochistan province, police said.

The bodies of the deceased, whose institutional identity is yet to be ascertained, were shifted to Civil Hospital.

According to police and rescue sources, the firing incident occurred in Langoabad area of the provincial capital when unknown armed men sprayed a vehicle of security personnel with bullets, which was on routine patrol in the locality. The assailants have repeatedly targeted security personnel and government officials in the area.

On Jan 9, four Balochistan Constabulary personnel were among six killed in a suicide attack near the Balochistan Assembly.

Quetta Razzaq Cheema said that the attackers fired at the vehicle carrying the FC officials and fled after the incident. The remarks by a State Department official came ahead of a crucial Financial Action Task Force (FATF) meeting in Paris from February 18 to 23.

Police and personnel of other law enforcement agencies reached the spot as investigation into the incident went under way.

The AFP reported that the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility of the attack.
