Netanyahu speech was 'cartoonish circus'

Kerry dismissed Netanyahu's assertion that Iran would be on its way to having a nuclear arsenal in 10 years. He said that, among other things, the inspection system needs to be more intrusive.

"The world has to extract a price from Iran for its aggressive behavior", Al Jubeir said.

On Sunday, Netanyahu used the conference venue in the Bavarian capital to draw an analogy between the Iran deal and the appeasement of Nazi Germany, associated with a treaty signed in Munich on the eve of World War II.

At the same time, Syria appears to feel it now has the upper hand in the civil war and is more emboldened to stop Israeli air raids inside the country, analysts say.

Similarly, he said, the Iranian nuclear agreement has "unleashed a unsafe Iranian tiger in our region and beyond".

Speaking to reporters after his speech at the Munich Security Conference, Netanyahu said that addressing the Iranian threat "is meant to fight its aggression on the ground, and comes ahead of a decision to be made in Washington about the nuclear agreement".

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali sent a condolence message to his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif, the foreign ministry said.

Lebanon's Defence Minister, Yacoub Riad Sarraf, who spoke after Netanyahu, warned against intervention: "Watch out, we will defend ourselves. we also have friends".

At this stage he took out a rectangular piece of dark green metal which he called "a piece of that Iranian drone, or what's left of it, after we shot it down".

On Sunday evening, Netanyahu denounced the investigation. "The media witch hunt continues in full force".

Zarif suggested Netanyahu might be escalating tensions with Iran simply to distract from his domestic problems. The Syrians are playing with fire when they allow the Iranians to attack Israel from their soil.

Netanyahu told the audience that destroying the drone was a demonstration of Israel's resolve.

But signatories France, Britain, Germany, Russia and China say the deal can not be revisited and Iran is holding up its end by allowing inspections.

He said Iran was increasing its power as the US-led coalition against ISIS in Iraq and Syria regains territory from the terrorists.

He mocked Netanyahu's tough words, saying Israel's reputation for "invincibility" had crumbled after one of its jets was shot down following a bombing run in Syria.
