NY college on lockdown due to 'credible' threat

Utica College in Upstate New York remains locked down today after receiving a threat from a caller saying he was armed with a weapon, with law enforcement officers evacuating people.

There's been no confirmation of any shots fired, the college said in a Twitter post, but the college has asked everyone on campus to shelter in place. As stated before there has been no violence on campus and no reports of any injuries.

School and police officials did not immediately respond to requests for more details.

The Utica College campus continues to be on lockdown.

Officials at an upstate NY college say a lockdown sparked by a telephone threat has ended after all buildings were searched and staff and students escorted to safe locations.

Anyone who who leaves campus can not return until the lockdown is lifted, police said.

Utica College is now under a lock down due to a real, credible threat. Local, state, and federal law enforcement are on scene.

Armed police officers searched every building at Utica College; students and staff were taken to the Strebel Student Center and Clark Athletic Center, two "safe zones", police and college officials said. Students who live on campus were escorted back to their dorms by law enforcement, while non-resident students, staff and faculty were allowed to leave campus.

'Comply with all law enforcement instructions. "Please get to a safe place and remain there until you are told the shelter in place direction has been lifted", the campus tweeted.
