Apple making its own MicroLED screens, report suggests

Considering how important having leading display technology is to Apple, I think the odds are good that the company equips its next-generation iPhone X and iPhone X Plus smartphones with significantly enhanced displays.
Reports are now saying that the next iPhone X will cost much less than the 2017 release. The iPhone-maker now sources OLED panels from Samsung Display for the iPhone X. Following the iPhone X Plus, the company is set to update their existing iPhone X model, as well as introduce a newer, cheaper option with fewer features.
Although the iPhone XI probably won't be announced until September, Apple could begin trial production of it soon, in order to prevent delays. KGI Analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo has said that Apple could launch up to three new iPhone models this year.
According to DigiTimes, Apple is planning to start the trial production of the upcoming iPhone models no later than the second quarter of 2018 to avoid the manufacturing delays associated with the iPhone X, which were caused by the low yield rates on the production of 3D sensor modules. It is supposed to be an upgrade to the existing iPhone X. The most interesting fact about this device is that Apple has chose to keep its initial manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM) much lower than that of iPhone X.
Apple's latest flagship iPhone X has been the most expensive device from the company ever.
However they have proved far more hard to manufacture than OLED displays, and Apple is unlikely to be able to produce them at scale and at a reasonable cost for several years, according to the report.
Ray Soneira, who runs screen tester DisplayMate Technologies, says bringing the design in-house is a "golden opportunity" for Apple.
The large iPhone is said to have an iPhone X display in a body the size of an iPhone 8 Plus. While this could have led to price increments, the reportclaims that Apple has already reached an agreement with Samsung Display "with satisfactory terms". We could very well see a new ApplePencil with expanded compatibility for lower-end iPads.
The purported iPhone SE 2 features an aluminum chassis instead of the stainless steel frame used on the iPhone X. The back also features a vertically aligned dual-camera setup that seems to be inspired by the iPhone X. Due to the sheer number of devices needed for an Apple product launch, new iPhones are assembled en masse at least a month ahead of the release date.
