Beckham "knows what we expect of him and now it's up to him", Mara added before saying everyone on the Giants could be part of trade talks.

Beckham, who reportedly wants $20 million per year from the Giants on a new contract, has been the subject of much speculation at the 2018 National Football League owners meetings, primarily because of the tepid endorsements he has received thus far from the people in charge of running the Giants.

When asked about the video released earlier this month that appears to show Beckham holding a brown cigarette, Gettleman joked he only saw the pizza, via Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.

No one really knows what will happen with the star player.

The Giants co-owner said the team is not shopping Beckham, but the Daily News reported Monday that Big Blue is listening to offers for the wideout and identified the Los Angeles Rams as one team that has expressed interest.

"It was a good meeting and I felt like I got to know him a little better", Shurmur said. But certainly we all understand that there are certain ways that we need to act and certain things we don't want to be doing.

And Shurmur even said, based on his conversation with Beckham, that it's his understanding Beckham will be with the team on April 9 when the offseason program begins. "They know they are better with a healthy OBJ".

Head coaches embarking on their first season with a new team usually want to keep the most talent players, and it is no different with Shurmur.

Beckham Jr played in just four games last season, catching 25 passes for 302 yards and three touchdowns before suffering a season-ending ankle injury.

In fact, Beckham may fall out with Gettleman before he's even played a single game for his new general manager.

"I think we always want weapons and obviously he's been an outstanding player, especially the first three years, " Shurmur said. We want guys that understand the importance of relationships, which means they want to be coached.
