Conor Mcgregor and His Gang Roll Through New York City

UFC star Conor McGregor was released from custody on $50,000 bail Friday after a brief arraignment on assault and criminal mischief charges stemming from Thursday's outburst at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

A second mixed martial arts fighter, Cian Cowley, was also charged with one count of assault and one count of criminal mischief, police said.

After one of the UFC's most chaotic weeks - with McGregor led from a police station in handcuffs and charged with throwing a hand cart at a bus - the promotion got down Saturday night to what it does best: Put on a show. And so McGregor chose to hype up this potential fight - like a pro wrestling promoter would - by bum rushing the Barclays event, causing a scene that climaxed with him shattering the window of a bus containing a bunch of UFC fighters.

McGregor, 29, was caught on camera Thursday evening as he chucked a dolly through the window of a bus that was parked in the loading dock of the Barclays Center.

UFC President Dana White said Friday he spoke to McGregor via text and the brawler said the confrontation was something that "had to be done".

"No.no", White said on ESPN's Get Up! on Friday morning when asked if he would help McGregor. But not in this situation.

The former UFC champion will be allowed to travel home to Ireland in the wake of his arrest and charges related to an alleged attack on a bus full of rival fighters on Thursday.

"I can't speculate. It's like asking me if Charles Manson got released from jail, what would you do?"

McGregor told White that he was apologetic about upsetting or injuring other fighters on the bus, but he did not express remorse about the incident itself, according to White.

McGregor claimed the title in November of 2016 with a knockout victory over Eddie Alvarez.

"Conor McGregor's team just attacked our bus".

McGregor last fought famed boxer Floyd Mayweather in a much-hyped boxing bout in August. "You's'll strip me of nothing", he tweeted, invoking an expletive. At the time, he also held the featherweight belt, becoming the first UFC fighter to hold championships in two divisions at the same time.

This may have been enough to set off McGregor but the added altercation, although rather silent and menacing, between Khabib and McGregor's training partner Artem Lobov after yesterday's press conference possibly sent him over the edge.

But he will clearly have to start thinking about one of UFC's biggest stars this week, when things may or may not be quieter.
