Rain postpones Food City 500 until Monday — NASCAR at Bristol

NASCAR and Bristol Motor Speedway officials announced today that the starting time for Sunday's Food City 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race has been moved up an hour to 1 p.m. (ET). It's only Kyle's 2nd ever pole at Bristol, with the other time coming in the spring race in 2013.

Here is all the important information ahead of the race.

The Furniture Row Racing driver will line up on the outside of Row 13 for the 500-lap race. Stage 2 ends on Lap 250.

Gates are set to open at 9:45 a.m. and the track walk is scheduled for 10 a.m.

NATIONALANTHEM: Morgan Myles perform the anthem at 12:56 p.m. FOX and PRN will broadcast the race.

After seeing warm and sunny skies on Friday and most of Saturday, Sunday's forecast that called for thunderstorms and 100 percent chance of precipitation proved correct.

The Trackside Live stage programming is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Last year's Food City 500 victor Jimmie Johnson was 14th in the practice session while teammate Alex Bowman, driving the 88 Nationwide Chevrolet was the highest finishing Hendrick vehicle in practice, placing seventh with a 14.482 time and a 129.282 speed navigating around The Last Great Colosseum.

Other notables in MENCS practice included Erik Jones in second, Kurt Busch in third, brother Kyle Busch in fourth and Kyle Larson rounding out the top five.
