Netanyahu's bombshell should finish off the Iran nuclear deal

President Trump declined to say whether the United States would pull out of the nuclear deal before a 12 May deadline for a decision, saying: "We'll see what happens".

Although the presentation was live on Israeli television, Netanyahu made clear that his audience was overseas: he delivered most of his speech in English, before switching to Hebrew.

Trump's new secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, made it clear while visiting Jerusalem on Sunday that the US leader would insist on changes to the accord. "It's a smoking bomb", Israel's Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Ron Dermer said on Twitter.

However, many disagree and view Netanyahu's presentation as evidence that the 2015 nuclear agreement was a failure and Iran can not be trusted.

Reactions to Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech on what he described as Iran's nuclear deception were mixed within the Jewish community.

If anything, Netanyahu's revelations regarding the history of Iran's nuclear program highlight how essential the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is, providing the global community with a tool to curb Iran's ambitions to build nuclear weapons. He said it would let Tehran develop nuclear arms after seven years and had "proven right what Israel has done today" with Netanyahu's disclosures.

While Trump has not made a final decision on whether to scrap the deal, sources close to the president say he is increasingly wary of the deal itself, as well as proposed fixes to the deal now being discussed by the Europeans. But Netanyahu insists Iran didn't live up to its end of the bargain.

It also stipulates that Iran's pre-deal stockpile of 12 tonnes of low-enriched uranium - enough for several nuclear weapons if further enriched - must be reduced to 300 kilogrammes (660 pounds) for 15 years.

The archive, he said, shows conclusively that Iran lied when it denied ever having a nuclear-weapons program.

United Nations inspectors have certified Iran's compliance with the deal nine times, most recently in November. Under the deal, Iran agreed to stop its nuclear program in return for sanctions being lifted. "I hope Trump comes to his senses and stays in the deal".

The deal gives Marathon more exposure to USA shale, thanks to Andeavor's existing logistics and terminal operations in Texas and North Dakota shale regions.

"The information Prime Minister Netanyahu presented today about the Iranian nuclear deal is more than a smoking gun". Even if he does pull out of the deal, he said, "that doesn't mean I wouldn't negotiate a new agreement". Overnight Monday, a missile attack in northern Syria killed more than a dozen pro-government fighters, many of them Iranians, a war monitoring group and an Iranian news agency said.

Netanyahu had confidence that US President Donald Trump would "do the right thing" in reviewing the Iran nuclear deal.

"Third, Iran lied again in 2015 when it didn't come clear to the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency] as required by the nuclear deal".

Iran "planned at the highest levels to continue building nuclear weapons".
