Stormy Daniels Files Defamation Lawsuit Against Donald Trump

The lawyer for porn actress Stormy Daniels filed a defamation lawsuit Monday against President Trump, the latest in a series of court battles waged by the woman who claims the two had a sexual liaison 12 years ago.

Stormy Daniels filed the complaint in federal court in NY on Monday.

Ms Daniels, real name Stephanie Clifford, says she was threatened by a man in a Las Vegas auto park to drop her allegations of an affair with Mr Trump.

Trump's tweet exposed Daniels to "contempt, ridicule. and physical threats of violence", the complaint says.

But Ms Daniel's lawyer tweeted that Mr Trump was "well aware of what transpired".

Neither Trump campaign representatives nor Ryan responded to requests for comment by the network's reporters. "It'd be a shame if something happened to her mom", Daniels claims.

Avenatti, after filing the lawsuit, took his turn on Twitter to accuse Trump of being complicit in the alleged 2011 incident.

Her lawyer Michael Avenatti said Monday: "We intend on teaching Mr Trump that you can not simply make things up about someone and disseminate them without serious consequences". The president writes "total con job" and says this man does not exist.

"Mr. Trump's statement is false and defamatory", according to the lawsuit. Just ten days before the 2016 election, Cohen paid Daniels $130,000 through a Delaware-based entity he established to facilitate the transfer of what he says was his personal money.

Clifford claimed she was threatened in a Las Vegas parking lot after agreeing to an interview with "In Touch" magazine about her alleged affair with Trump. She's already suing Trump to get out of her nondisclosure agreement and has a separate defamation suit against Trump's attorney Michael Cohen.

"Mr Trump's statement is false and defamatory", it said. On Friday, federal Judge James Otero granted a 90-day delay in that lawsuit - but also warned that Cohen likely faces a criminal indictment.

The new suit, filed Monday in the Southern District of NY, claims an April tweet from Trump is "false and defamatory".

Aided by her hard-charging attorney, Michael Avenatti, Daniels has aggressively sought to keep her case in the public eye.

Trump is also being sued by a woman named Summer Zervos, who alleged he kissed her forcibly in 2007.
