United States is Our Main Enemy Who Fully Supports Israel - Palestinian Politician

Palestinians were gathering Tuesday for fresh protests along the Gaza border, a day after Israeli forces killed dozens there as the United States embassy opened in Jerusalem on what was the conflict's bloodiest day in years.

Yesterday Turkey also condemned Mr Trump for the massacre, which saw the highest death toll in a single day since the 2014 Gaza War. Palestinian health officials in the Gaza Strip said two Palestinians were killed by Israeli gunfire during protests near the border.

Numerous dead and wounded in Gaza were hit by sniper-fire, the health ministry said.

Of the dead in Monday's violent demonstrations, one is reported to be a baby who died of inhaling tear gas.

Malaysia has condemned the Israeli violence against the Palestinians and called upon the United Nations to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

A senior Hamas leader, Khalil Al-Hayya, told Reuters that Monday's protest was scheduled at the same time as the "deplorable crime of moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem". "This is what is endangering the people of Gaza".

US President Donald Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in December and the US Embassy was relocated from Tel Aviv to the holy city.

The UN said Israel had a right to defend itself but was strongly critical of its use of lethal force on Palestinians approaching Gaza's fenced perimeter.

Cogat, the military body for Palestinian civilian affairs, said Tuesday it had transferred 53 tons of medical equipment to Gaza this week, including medical fluids, bandages and physical therapy treadmills.

Meanwhile, the diplomatic fallout continued Tuesday.

Meanwhile, South Africa recalled its ambassador to Israel, and its worldwide relations minister, Lindiwe Sisulu, condemned Israeli troops' use of deadly force.

Washington also blocked the adoption of a UN Security Council statement that would have called for an independent probe into the violence.

The draft statement, which was provided to CNN by a United Nations diplomat, included language expressing "outrage and sorrow at the killing of Palestinian civilians exercising their right to peaceful protest". The diplomats spoke on condition of anonymity because the discussions were supposed to be private. The army accuses Hamas of using the protests as cover to plan or carry out attacks.

What happened at the Gaza border?

Typically, the Rafah crossing is closed for most of the year.

Hamas denied instigating the violence.

Shapiro said Hamas has been clear about its intentions, and that the group has said it wants to send thousands of people to storm the border. Thousands joined funeral processions Tuesday, though many of those killed Monday had been buried the same day, in line with Muslim traditions of speedy burials.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi also in a statement strongly condemned the unprecedented massacre of Palestinians by Israeli snipers ahead of Nakba Day (the anniversary of the Israeli regime's occupation of Palestinian land) and in protest at the relocation of the USA embassy from Tel Aviv to al-Quds.

The border marches are seen as Hamas' last hope of ending the blockade that has made it increasingly hard for the group to govern.

Other sources said further protests were likely in the West Bank.

"We're supposed to believe that this is Israel's fault that Hamas is trying to storm the border?" he said. Aircraft and tanks had also targeted military positions belonging to Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip.
