Apple iOS 12: Feature we would love to have on our iPhones

An expansion to bring peer-to-peer communication to the toolset would be a great improvement that would catch Apple up to Google's ARCore technology. If those updates are announced, I don't expect Apple to raise the corresponding models' prices, so that could prove another boon for business users.

A recent post from Japanese Apple blog Macotakara - which had correctly predicted Apple would drop the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 - says Apple is still in the process of deciding which design it wants to go with, making a fall release for the iPhone SE 2 more likely than one Monday. Thousands of app developers, a few members of the media, and Apple employees will stuff into the McEnery Convention Center for four days of discussions, classes, and updates on the latest updates to Apple's various software platforms.

These "digital health" tools will break down the time spent using the phone and its individual apps.

According to Kuo, who has a history of accurately predicting Apple's plans, the company will release second generation of the 5.8-inch iPhone X, as well as a larger iPhone X "Plus" with a 6.5-inch display. The company is working on new iPad Pros with Face ID, too, but they're also expected to be unveiled later in 2018.

It's no secret that Apple is banking it big on augmented reality (AR) and according to a report from Reuters, they are expected to debut new AR features next week at WWDC 2018.

WWDC is Apple's annual event where third party developers get a peek at Apple's software roadmap for the coming year. As part of "ARKit2", Apple has been planning a new mode that would allow users to play AR games against each other in the same virtual environment.

At the education event of Apple on March 27, the company presented two new software initiatives such as schoolwork app and Classkit API. The Cupertino-based firm, at its upcoming WWDC 2018, is said to launch a new feature that aims to make this rumour a reality.

Earlier this week, Apple updated the HomePod with stereo and multi-room music listening modes and the ability to add calendar appointments.

To catch up to Amazon and Google's digital speakers, Apple will have to improve Siri. In order to expand the number of available devices for HomeKit users, I hope Apple has plans to incorporate Z-Wave or Zigbee support. This means there will be smaller tweaks and a refresh of the Home Screen will be announced next year.

There might be news of Apple TV becoming a more fully-featured streaming service, including original series and films fresh from cinema screens. Apple recently poached top Google AI executive John Giannandrea, after criticism about slow feature development compared to the competition.
