North Korea blowing up test sites, 'total denuclearisation...has already started'

The site in question is the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground where North Korea has previously tested "liquid-propellant engines for its long-range ballistic missiles", according to a US official who spoke to Reuters.

At the end of the summit, the president announced that he would suspend the joint military exercises with South Korea that had been a major sticking point with the North.

"Chairman Kim promised that North Korea would destroy a missile engine test stand soon", the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

"American voters say President Donald Trump deserves a pat on the back for his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un", said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the poll.

Asked about Trump's potential options at the negotiating table in future talks with North Korea, more Americans say they'd oppose than favor withdrawing USA troops from South Korea (41 percent to 29 percent) and giving economic aid to North Korea (47 percent to 24 percent) in exchange for Kim surrendering his country's nuclear weapons. Photos from the event show Kim and Xi shaking hands in front of a row of Chinese and North Korean flags - a visual echo of Kim and Trump's much-photographed handshake in Singapore.

Kim arrived in Beijing Tuesday morning and returned to North Korea late Wednesday.

In 2012, the USA military announced that it was planning to launch another recovery mission with North Korean approval after three days of talks in Bangkok, but that effort was also eventually scuttled.

Following the Trump-Kim Summit last week, President Trump indicated that Kim had readily agreed to the return of the remains that the North Korean government had collected, reportedly numbering 200.

"Trump has approved potential tariffs against China, so it is time for China to play the North Korea card to deal with America".

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga repeated that it was vital for North Korea to take concrete steps toward complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantlement of all its weapons of mass destruction and missiles.

In a news conference following the summit, Trump said North Korea had agreed to return the remains of United States soldiers. "The detailed negotiations have not begun", Mattis said, according to the British Telegraph, which cited the Yonhap news agency. "I expect they will talk about the path going forward and where priorities should lie".
