Uruguay v Portugal 30 June 2018

Ronaldo's hat-trick gave them a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Spain in their first game, before the Real Madrid forward got the only goal in a 1-0 win over Morocco.

After almost five and a half hours of football, it was the first goal Uruguay had let in at this World Cup - indeed it was the first they had conceded in 2018.

"It's a match between the two teams, Portugal and Uruguay, and we'll do everything we can to win".

And although Uruguay finally conceded a goal, it was the first this year in the team's seventh match.

Portugal stepped up the tempo after the restart and were rewarded when Uruguay were caught napping by a short corner. Coach Oscar Tabarez revealed he used a picture of the towering header to inspire his players in his halftime team talk in their first game in this World Cup against Egypt, where they snatched victory with Jose Gimenez's late header from a corner. Suarez, along with Edinson Cavani will threaten the Portuguese defence.

Uruguay remind me so much of Atletico Madrid.

Uruguay's previous five goals at Russian Federation 2018 all came from set-pieces but they opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a goal of the highest quality. Cavani restores Uruguay's lead with a attractive strike.

Goalkeepers - Rui Patricio, Beto, Anthony Lopes. Luis Suarez with the flawless delivery from the left side of the Portugal box, and Edinson Cavani made no mistake in putting the ball into the net.

Uruguay's winning goal came from their only shot of any kind in the second half.

"When it comes to the rivalry with Ronaldo at club level that's a different thing altogether", he told reporters ahead of Saturday evening's clash at the Fisht Olympic Stadium.

Edinson Cavani sent Uruguay into a World Cup quarter-final against France, and dumped Portugal out of the tournament with two goals of the highest order.

Cristiano Ronaldo can not beat Uruguay all by himself. England's Harry Kane has already scored five.

Getting to the semifinal at least would cement his status, as one of Uruguay's greatest goal poachers while Pepe seems to be enjoying another renaissance in Turkey.
