Trump urges Tester's ouster at rally for Montana Republican

President Trump has praised Vladimir Putin during a free wheeling rally in Montana at which he vowed to make North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies pay more for defence, made a series of personal attacks against U.S. opponents and appeared to mock the #MeToo women's movement. Jon Tester, who is running for reelection. Trump's speech was, like most of his addresses, a remarkable mix of stream-of-consciousness thinking, fact-challenged claims and demagoguery.

He criticized Tester for voting against the Republican tax cut bill, repealing Obamacare and opposing Trump's travel ban on some people from predominantly Muslim countries, recently upheld by the Supreme Court. "Even though it weighs only 2 ounces", Trump said. "You're going to get on your side a real Montana fighter".

In a lengthy, freewheeling speech Thursday in Great Falls, Montana, on Thursday, President Trump spent the vast majority of the hour-plus speech hitting on familiar themes: trade, taxes, immigration, protests by National Football League players, the economy, the press, better relations with Russian Federation and North Korea, his proposed "space force", and the Supreme Court vacancy. "She gets special treatment under the Justice Department". Rosendale said he'll back Trump's agenda, while Tester said he'll support the president when it's in the state's interests and oppose him when it's not.

He said that if the pair ever clashed in a presidential debate he would give her a DNA test to identify her ancestry.

"A vote for Jon Tester is a vote for Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, and the new leader of the Democrat party, Maxine Waters", President Donald Trump then told the assembled crowd.

Trump is boosting Tester's challenger, State Auditor Matt Rosendale, at Thursday's rally in Great Falls.

"Allright, you can right your wrong in November, OK?"

Early on in the speech, Trump delivered a sweeping rebuke of Tester, arguing that while the senator tells Montana voters that he stands with the President on certain issues, he doesn't when it matters. "You deserve a senator who doesn't just talk like he is from Montana, you deserve a senator who actually votes like he is from Montana".

Twitter lost it that a guy who bragged about its okay to grab women "by the p***y" would dare to touch the #MeToo movement of victims who have bravely come forward to reveal they've been unwantedly sexually harassed, groped, raped and more.

Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., received deafening applause as he opened his father's rally, quickly going on the attack against Tester and welcoming Montana Republicans Sen. "I have a feeling she will say no, but we will hold it for the debates".

Still, while Democrats believe they have an opening, Trump is betting on his method.

Tester planned to spend Thursday listening to farmers' and business owners' concerns about Trump's import tariffs and was expected to be driving back to his farm at the time of Trump's rally, spokeswoman Marnee Banks said.

"Welcome to Montana, and thank you President Trump for supporting Jon's legislation to help veterans and first responders, hold the VA accountable, and get rid of waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government", the ad read. So I sort of feel guilty about this whole thing, ' Trump shared.

"Democrats want anarchy", Mr. Trump said. He teased the announcement of his Supreme Court pick and a possible slogan for his 2020 campaign.

And he slammed critics who suggested that he was not prepared for his coming meeting with Putin in Finland, dismissing Putin's background as a head of Russia's intelligence service.
