US Supreme Court nominee faces new sexual misconduct accusation

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh submitted a 36-year-old calendar listing his daily activities as part of his defense against allegations of sexual misconduct at a high school party.

The attorney for Judge Brett Kavanaugh says that notes taken during therapy sessions with Kavanaugh's accuser Dr. Christine Blasey Ford as well as results from a lie detector test have not yet been turned over ahead of Thursday's hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Responding to Avenatti's client, Kavanaugh said in a Wednesday statement, "This is ridiculous and from the Twilight Zone".

Avenatti, the lawyer who represents adult film actress Stormy Daniels, has made it clear he is exploring a bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. Ford said Mark Judge, a friend of Kavanaugh's, witnessed the incident, which Ford said happened when she was 15.

Meanwhile, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley said he has asked Rachel Mitchell, a career prosecutor with decades of experience prosecuting sex crimes, to question the witnesses scheduled to testify on Thursday at the committee's continuation of its hearing to consider the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh to serve on the United States Supreme Court.

She alleges Mr Kavanaugh assaulted her when she was 15, and he was 17.

Of Ramirez's allegation, Trump said: "And now a new charge comes up".

He added, "I strongly believe Judge Kavanaugh should withdraw from consideration".

Kavanaugh has been the subject of multiple sexual misconduct allegations in recent weeks.

Kavanaugh told Fox News in an interview broadcast Monday night that he has "always treated women with dignity and respect".

It's unclear if the calendars will affect the opinions of the senators on the committee about Ford's allegation.

She said she saw Kavanaugh behave as a "mean drunk" at such parties and witnessed him "engage in highly inappropriate conduct" that included the "fondling and grabbing of girls without their consent".

In the written testimony released on Wednesday by the Senate Judiciary Committee, Kavanaugh says he has "never sexually assaulted anyone - not in high school, not in college, not ever". The Supreme Court nominee will be sworn in and will then give his opening statement.

"The Republicans could not be nicer, could not be more respectful to the process".

All four documents say that Ms Ford revealed the information well before President Donald Trump nominated Mr Kavanaugh to the high court in July. Her security clearances are relevant because she stands to lose them - along with her career - if she is found to be committing perjury.
