Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2 and Surface Studio 2 Launched

If the rumours are to be believed, the best we can hope to expect are some new 8th Gen processors in the existing series, as well as new USB-C ports for the Surface Pro and a version that comes in black. Both systems reportedly retain the same port configurations: 1x USB-A 3.0 port, microSD card reader, mini-Display Port, and the proprietary Surface Connect port for the Surface Pro, with just a USB-A port, mini-DisplayPort, and Surface Connect for the Surface Laptop.

It's tough to say given the quality of the images we've seen so far, but the design of the Pro 6 also seems to be identical to its predecessor, and it sounds like it will launch with the same Surface Pen. The company may also bring the successor to the Surface Laptop that debuted in May a year ago and was launched in India last month. In a surprising twist, neither the Surface Pro 6 nor Surface Studio 2 seem to utilize USB Type-C, which is already on the Surface Book 2 and Surface Go. You'll need to get all of your news and updates from the lucky few who are there. It will be interesting to see how a black Surface will compare to the silver ones.

Microsoft upgraded the Surface Pro 6 and Surface Laptop 2 to feature Intel's 8th-generation Core processors.

The new product in the lineup is the Surface Headphones, which offer 13 levels of noise cancelation, as well as two beam-forming microphones for Cortana and voice calls, and 8 total microphones for noise cancellation. The base Surface Pro 6 is expected to feature 4GB of RAM and an Intel Core m3 CPU. The latest one offers up to 16 GB of RAM and a solid-state drive with up to 1TB of storage. The Surface Laptop 2 will start at $999, which should be affordable enough for the students Microsoft is targeting with this device. Users will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Home for free, but not to Windows 10 Professional.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance benchmark the Surface Pro 6 (media events rarely make time for that), but it felt very fast as I piled on browser tabs, loaded up 4K YouTube videos, and opened as many apps as I could.
