President Donald Trump speaks at a rally in Wheeling, WV, Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018.
The White House on Tuesday amended a transcript to include an insult against ABCNews reporter Cecilia Vega, Politico reports. "She's like in a state of shock".
Vega quickly responded by saying "No, I'm not".
Trump, apparently, misheard "thank you" as "thinking", and without confirming what Vega had said, he, entirely unprovoked, took it up as an opportunity to mock her. He's basically saying, 'If you think I'm an assh*le now, imagine if I had a few beers!
At this remark, a surprised gasp rose from the audience, and Vega looked stunned: "I'm sorry?" she said. However, the new deal was overshadowed by Trump's comment aimed toward a female reporter after opening the floor to questions.
Vega used Twitter shortly afterwards to express her right to ask any question she desires, and cited the First Amendment. Collins was also asking a question about Kavanaugh's sexual assault allegations. Do you have a question on trade? "You never do", the president said.
"What does that have to do with trade?"The US President said".
Trump also told reporters that he had seen many senators in "very bad" circumstances, hinting that he'd seen many of them seriously drunk. But that's not what the official White House transcript shows.
"I wouldn't mind that at all", Trump said. "You never do", the president fired back.
At another point in the press conference, the President broadly attacked the media, saying: "I think the press has treated me unbelievably unfairly".
Trump said, "You've had enough", and moved on to someone else.
