Megyn Kelly Is Out at NBC :: Politics :: News :: Megyn Kelly

Today, multiple outlets reported that Megyn Kelly is officially out at NBC following the controversial remarks she made about blackface.

On Wednesday evening, reports surfaced that Kelly had also parted ways with her agent at CAA and moved to UTA.

Megyn Kelly's future with NBC News appears to be in serious jeopardy.

An irony in light of Kelly's role in bringing down Roger Ailes: I don't think I've seen a single #MeToo malefactor fall as quickly as she apparently has for making one outre remark about wearing blackface on Halloween.

Access does not have an official comment from Kelly or NBC News at the time of this posting.

Megyn Kelly's original comments about blackface which aired on the Tuesday edition of Megyn Kelly Today. "Because you do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface on Halloween, or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween". "That was OK when I was a kid, as long as you were dressing like a character". In the almost-two years Kelly was at NBC - 13 of which she spent hosting the 9 a.m. hour of Today, rebranded as Megyn Kelly Today - she came under fire for going soft on world leaders, insulting celebrities, enabling hate-mongers, and more.

Kelly's arrival at NBC was widely trumpeted as a huge win for the network. She is in the middle of the second year of a three year contract.

Kelly apologized twice - once to her co-workers via an internal memo Tuesday afternoon and again through tears at the top of Wednesday's show, which according to reports could be her last.

Kelly's lawyer Brian Friedman will meet with NBC brass and has requested that Farrow - who left NBC News past year after the network declined to run his expose on Harvey Weinstein - be present. Would NBC rather save $46 million and cut her loose to be picked right back up by another network?

One source said that it seemed inevitable Kelly would be phased out of the industry. "There was no material difference to our buys when they shifted from "Today" to 'Megyn Kelly Today'".

As Al Roker said following Kelly's "apology", the apology wasn't good enough because someone who claims to be a journalist should know better than to express such views on television and try to use dog-whistle terms like "politically correct" to hand-wave the underlying issues.

Kelly jumped from Fox News Channel to NBC in early 2017, but it hasn't been a comfortable fit.

NBC representatives said they had no comment beyond the discussion of why Kelly wasn't on the air Thursday.

Sammataro said he'd be surprised if Kelly walked away with her full contract, "unless she has an airtight provision".
