'Anger' at Daniel Ricciardo powered Verstappen's Mexican win - father

A frustrated and highly-emotional Ricciardo described his Red Bull as "cursed" after his eighth retirement of 2018 in Mexico, and said he did not "see the point" in turning up for the final two races. 'I'll let Gasly drive it, I'm done with it'. After suffering an eighth retirement of 2018 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Ricciardo said he was "done" with his Red Bull vehicle.

But Ricciardo, who is leaving the team for Renault at the end of the year, has now backtracked following that outburst.

"I will be doing the last two races", a smiling Ricciardo said in a video posted on his Instagram page. "That's what I'm about". I ain't about that other life.

So, yeh.it's been about massive highs and lows this year, more lows unfortunately.

A series of incidents and setbacks scuppered Verstappen's prospects through the first six Grands Prix, colliding with Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and team-mate Daniel Ricciardo in successive races. He has suffered back-to-back DNFs, and four after the summer break.

Looking ahead to Red Bull's switch to Honda power from 2019, and adding the few aerodynamic tweaks linked to next year's regulations, Helmut Marko is also confident that the Milton Keynes-based team and its star driver will be in an advantageous position next season.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner is confident Max Verstappen is ready to fight for the drivers' championship if given the vehicle to do so.

Now, though, it seems that Daniel has taken some time to think about his actions and has come to his senses, doing a complete U-turn and confirming that he will indeed be on the grid to take part in his final two races as a Red Bull driver.
