Kavanaugh accuser confesses she made up claims to 'get attention'

Senate Judiciary Committee investigators concluded that a woman who claimed to be the author of an anonymous sexual assault allegation against Justice Brett Kavanaugh had "fabricated" her accusation, according to a letter from Senate Judiciary chairman Chuck Grassley. Grassley claimed that Munro-Leighton confessed to committee investigators that she had never met Kavanaugh and admitted her allegation was a "ploy" and "tactic" because she opposed the judge's nomination.

President Donald Trump called out Democrats for not speaking up following the Senate Judiciary Committee referring one of Justice Brett Kavanaugh's accusers to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for potentially making "materially false statements" after she claimed Kavanaugh raped her.

Grassley last month also requested a criminal investigation into another Kavanaugh accuser, Julie Swetnick, and her attorney, Michael Avenatti.

Included in the email was a typed version of the Jane Doe letter, according to Grassley.

"Such acts are not only unfair; they are potentially illegal", Grassley stressed. In response, Ms. Munro-Leighton left Committee investigators a voicemail on November 1, 2018.

Grassley referred another one of the women who claimed to be assaulted by Kavanaugh to Sessions and Wray in late October, along with her attorney.

"Can you imagine if he didn't become a Justice of the Supreme Court because of her disgusting False Statements?" he continued. "It is illegal to make materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statements to Congressional investigators".

Among those questioned, the report said, were Mark Judge, PJ Smyth, and Leland Keyser, the three individuals whom accuser Christine Blasey Ford claimed were present in the house when Kavanaugh allegedly threw her on a bed and sexually assaulted her sometime in the 1980s.

The anonymous, undated letter Munro-Leighton referenced was received by Democratic Sen. She claimed that she was not in fact "Jane Doe" but that she did send the letter to Harris, adding, "I did that as a way to grab attention".

In order to investigate her sexual-assault claims, Committee investigators first attempted to reach her by phone on October 3, 2018, but were unsuccessful. She says she did this to get attention and now I suspect she's going to get all she wanted and more.

Even though Trump originally admitted that Ford's testimony was "very compelling" - referring to her as a "very credible witness" - he later mocked her performance at Kavanaugh's confirmation hearing, and it appears that he will stick by his skepticism of her account after reviewing Grassley's letter revealing Munro-Leighton false accusations.

Many users instantly took Kavanaugh's side on Twitter, as soon as the news started coming in. He denied that any such thing had ever happened, but after the transcript of the call was released later that same day, multiple news sites reported on the allegation made in the letter.
