Other footage from the event showed Boris taking part in banter with people on stage and performing various dances.
They used footage of him dancing and speaking as a means to praise Russian technological prowess.
The organisers of the forum have said that they never said the robot was real, suggesting that if its true nature wasn't made clear, it was down to state TV coverage, over which they have very little control. The website posted a few questions like Where were Boris's external sensors?
Sure enough, "Boris" was really "Alyosha" a £3000 robot costume made by a company called Show Robots.
According to "Medusa", the organizers of the forum apparently chose to diversify the program, and in the absence of real achievements released at the scene animator, who imitated the movements and the voice of the robot.
As the questions mounted, it emerged that Boris was a £3000 costume made by the company Show Robots created to give the "near total illusion that before you stands a real robot", equipped with microphone and tablet display.
In its report, a channel anchor said it was "entirely possible one of these [students] could dedicate himself to robotics". Russian Federation 24 told its viewers that the robot "has already learned to dance and he's not that bad", the Guardian reports.
