CenturyLink outage that affected Arizona customers continues Friday

"In case of an emergency, customers should use their wireless phones to call 911 or drive to their nearest fire station or emergency facility", spokeswoman Nikki Wheeler told The Washington Post.

The company said in a statement Thursday that its network was "still experiencing a disruption" and that it was working to restore services.

Lewis County, along with numerous counties across the state, suffered from a 911 outage Thursday evening into the early morning hours Friday due to a CenturyLink glitch.

He urged residents using cell phones to contact emergency first responders to use the full 10-digit number of a public safety answering point emergency call center (PSAP) or call the local police department if calling 911 does not work.

USA officials and at least one state said Friday that they have started investigations into a nationwide CenturyLink internet outage that has disrupted 911 service.

The effect on people's ability to reach 911 emergency services is "completely unacceptable", he said.
