Kyler Murray: Eyeing the Heisman Trophy winner’s possible fit with Denver

Dane Brugler of The Athletic updated his Mock Draft 2.0 after Monday's news that Murray would declare himself eligible for the NFL Draft, and still has Miami selecting Clemson defensive end Clelin Ferrell at No. 13.

This past season for the Sooners, he completed 260 of 377 passes for 4,361 yards and 42 touchdowns with seven interceptions and a passer rating of 199.2. He just completed a season as quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners.

While some looked at Murray as a potential breakout star in the sport, his run to the Heisman Trophy surpassed even the boldest of expectations and vaulted him onto the radar of National Football League teams.

Earlier this afternoon, Jon Heyman of Fancred reported that Murray was expected to declare for the NFL Draft before tonight's midnight deadline, and it would be a "shocker" if he didn't. Major League Baseball also sent marketing executives to meet with him to present information about Murray's off-field earning potential. It was believed for a while that Murray would choose baseball instead, but things changed over the past couple months. And Murray certainly has the potential to be one of the faces of the NFL. Murray then had an impressive enough baseball season in 2018 to draw the A's attention. But he's a viable candidate to be selected before GM Bob Quinn and the Lions make their first selection at No. 8 overall. "Sometimes, I still have regret that I didn't give (baseball) more". That date can be seen as one of the first indicators of which way he's leaning. Dodson's announcement on January 2 to declare for the NFL Draft and forgo his senior season was not one that many saw coming, but his name is still expected to be called early on.

The head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, Kliff Kingsbury, who has the luxury of the first pick in April, will probably be rubbing his hands in glee.
