Duchess of Sussex's 'best friends' rally to her defense

Friends of the Duchess of Sussex say that she has begged her father to stop "victimising" her in the media. The friend - one of five who spoke to PEOPLE on condition of anonymity - has visited the Californian at Nottingham Cottage, the home she shares with Prince Harry. One friend, described as a former co-star, said: "Meg has silently sat back and endured the lies and untruths". At no point was there talk of 'Now that we know he lied, he's in trouble.' Tom wouldn't take her calls, wouldn't take Harry's calls.

And they've not let Meghan's pregnancy slow them down at all in their royal duties, as they made a joint appearance just days ago in the English town of Bristol. "After the wedding, she wrote a letter to her dad about wanting to fix the relationship".

But in a reply that left the Duchess "absolutely devastated", her friends say Thomas answered by suggesting "the two of them should pose for a picture or stage a picture to show the world they'd made up". "Meg cooks for herself and Harry every single day".

It was claimed Meghan implored Thomas Markle to travel to her wedding despite staging paparazzi photos.

They also claim her dad Thomas has "never called; never texted" and said it's "super painful".

It led to some mean-spirited mocking from Good Morning Britain's Piers Morgan, who said Meghan was "putting on a performance" and accused her of making the charity work "all about her".

She also posted a meme reading, "When a narcissist has lost control over you, they try to control how others see you", captioning it, "And if the narcissist is wealthy they pay very expensive PR teams to change the way people see you". It was raining and muddy outside, so the dogs got all dirty, and she's wiping them off with towels. She's so genuine in her love to connect with people and feels so grateful to be able to do that. "How are you?' I'm not even allowed to ask about her until she finds out about me". He's never called; he's never texted.

"If I'm thrown some kind of curveball, I always think, 'I gotta talk to Meg, '" said a former colleague. "I love you, and I'm scared.' It was endless".

Mr Markle apparently responded with a long note asking for a media photo opportunity.

This isn't the first time some of Duchess Meghan's friends have shared positive stories about the royal.

Since then Thomas had made no attempt to contact Meghan, despite her having the same number, the report claimed.
